ABOUT ME: JIGMET RAFTAN

 

My name is Jigemet Raftan, I'm 14 years old and I smile a lot. 

I'm the the eldest of 4 children.

I have a younger sister and two brothers, of which the youngest is only a baby.

We live in Solar Colony, a town 8 km away from Leh, the main town of Ladakh, in the Indian Himalaya.

I know a lot of prayers, which I like to recite. I love singing and dancing.

However, my favorite hobby is cricket. 

I'm sporty and besides cricket I also like to play basketball and football.

My studies are going well, as I'm working hard to reach my goals.

My dream is to become a doctor in Tibetan Medicine.

As a doctor I will be able to help elderly and the poor.

Also, I hope to travel to other countries.

One of my idols is the DalaiLama.

Once he gave me a kiss on the cheek, and I felt very lucky and blessed.

 

At school, I wrote a letter to Karlijn, which you can read below.

I wish to travel to the Netherlands some day.

It is really hard to imagine what this country is like.

The furthest I have traveled is to Delhi, when I had to go to the hospital.

This was the first time I flew on a plane and it was really exciting !
