THE TEAM

Since the summer of 2013, a wonderful group of people has made various efforts to help Jigmet improve his health. Each contributing in his own way, the project would not have been as successful without their help. Special thanks goes out to Rigzin Dolkar & her sister Phuntsog Angmo. Their effort, expertise and devotion are truly admirable.

RIGZIN DOLKAR

Rigzin, the younger of the two sisters was born in Leh, Ladakh. She is 29 years old and has extensive experience (>5 yr) working as a physiotherapist in Odisha and Delhi. Currently she works with her sister Phuntsog at SNM hospital and her own clinic, Ladakh Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Centre, in Leh. She has done her master’s degree in orthopaedics at SVNIRTAR, Utkal University in Odisha, after a bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy at Amar Jyoti (Delhi University). At SNM hospital she and her sister are responsible for an ortho-, neuro- and pediatric unit, in addition to a unit for special children.

ME: Karlijn Musch

I was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on the 25th of November 1985. After studying Earth Sciences at Utrecht University, I’ve worked as an environmental consultant at Tauw, a Dutch engineering company. After 3 years I needed a new challenge and decided to do a master’s degree in Environmental Management at Amsterdam University. My master’s thesis research brought me to southern India, Tamil Nadu. This first 6-month trip to India led to a great desire to see and learn more about this country so different from everything I had known. Consequently, I traveled through India for 9 months, combining my travels with volunteer work. That’s how I met Jigmet. At present I’m studying physiotherapy, inspired by my enriching encounter with Jigmet, Rigzin and Phuntsog during volunteer work I’ve done in Ladakh. In the tab about me you’ll be able to read in more detail about my experiences on my travels through India.
